Monsterfun.com, our redirector
Fight My Monster is a fantastic brand name, but is quite a handful for kids to type as a domain name (www.FightMyMonster.com). What we don’t want is kids googling “Fight My monster” and then clicking on our own search ads (that could get expensive!!). The best solution: especially for usage with TV commercials, is get yourself a redirection domain, in our case MonsterFun.com!
Next step, start blogging about the domain so Google picks it up!.. if anyone wants to talk about our domain strategy, please feel free?? And link to this post
We’ve already registered all of the likely misspellings. Any other ideas?
that’s a smart workaround, but why not come up with a name that get’s you where you want in the first place? (easier said that done I know!).

Ahh unfortunately for many years now it’s not been easy to find short domains that also make good brands.. but anyway I think that the policy of creating a great brand first, and then confirming you can get a domain that acts as a shortcut can be a sound strategy. We’ve got a lot of positive feedback on the name Fight My Monster testing with kids, and this has got to be partly because it is evocative in a way a single word domain can never be.
